Etco2 Module & Sensor - Main stream

"EtCO2 mainstream" refers to a method of measuring end-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO2) concentration, where the sensor directly measures the CO2 level in the patient's airway, providing a real-time reading without the need to divert a sample of exhaled breath to a separate sensor, unlike in the "sidestream" method; essentially, it directly monitors the CO2 at the end of a patient's breath by placing the sensor within the airway itself, offering faster response times and a more accurate representation of the patient's current respiratory status. 

Key points about EtCO2 mainstream:

• Direct measurement:

  The sensor is placed directly in the patient's airway, eliminating the need for a sampling tube to carry the exhaled breath to a separate sensor.

• Faster response time:

  Due to the close proximity to the airway, mainstream EtCO2 provides nearly instantaneous readings.

• Accurate waveform:

  The direct measurement allows for a clearer and more accurate representation of the exhaled CO2 waveform.
